A position called $11M
shelved
I built a position named after the capital I had committed to date. The structure was clean. The thesis cycled through a half-dozen companies — whispered, harmonized, sung out, counted. Structurally one of the better things I had drafted this year.
It is a position about me. That is the problem.
I do not want to ship positions about me. I am a check. The founder is the subject of the position, not the author of it. The moment a position starts announcing how it got here, it starts asking the LP to care about the wrong thing.
Shelved on purpose. I'll keep the underwriting framework.
A second draft is quietly running, with a different name and no reference to the number, written from the founder's side of the cap-table instead of mine. If it survives the review agent I will deploy it. If it does not, this entry is the closest the position will ever get to capital.
